 | Jet Moto 2 Brand: Playstation Part Number: 41672 THIS IS FOR THE SONY PLAYSTATION CD-ROM VIDEO GAME VERSION.
Now we have the sequel, and it's not at all nice, either. The immediate attraction to Jet Moto 2 lies in the variety of tracks offered. The original stuck mostly to a safe compilation of sand, sea, and snow-based courses, which is fine, but didn't give much room for creativity. And while its follow-up does feature its fair share of deserts and mountainsides, it does so with extreme and creative touches: A remote desert location leads up the side of a lava-spewing volcano, and the lava really does hurt. The level Aftershock takes you from a wreckage-filled ocean into the remains of a toxic, quake-ridden Los Angeles. And Rollercide leads you along the tracks of a demented carnival's roller coaster. By far the most insane of this berserk cocktail is Nebulous, the demonically difficult finale that guides you through the heavens and into? well, you'll see. These bizarre levels take the Jet Moto series yet another step away from the traditional racer and are rescued from the threat of "gimmickiness" by the perverse and detailed humor that SingleTrac so deftly displayed in its awesome Twisted Metal series. | *$26.30 |

 | Street Fighter Alpha 3 Brand: Capcom Model: SONY PLAYSTATION VERSION Part Number: STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 VI ALL-TIME CLASSIC. FOR SONY PLAYSTATION VIDEO GAME SYSTEM. SUPER FUN. GREAT FOR COLLECTORS. HERE IS SOME INFO ON THE GAME. The third in the Alpha series has a total of 31 fighters, the most in the series so far. New characters include old favorites E. Honda, Blanka, Vega, Cammy, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Juni and Juli. Some of the newest fighters on the block include a former Final Fight character (Cody, who has been in jail since the last Final Fight game, or so his clothing suggests), Karin Kanzuki and Rainbow Mika.
The major difference between this Alpha and the last two are the new play modes World Tour, Arcade, VS, Training and Entry.
World Tour - Simply choose your fighter and travel around the world, fighting the home town heroes that you run into. The more fights you win, the stronger you fighter becomes. You can also learn new moves, and there are three levels of Super moves to choose from before you start each round (called Isms).
Arcade - A simple conversion of the arcade version. Beat each fighter with your chosen warrior, in three rounds per match (much the same as past versions of Street Fighter)
Versus - Two human players battle it out.
Training - A good way to learn all the super moves that are available, against a dummy.
Entry - If you save your character during the World Tour mode, you can upload him here to use in the other modes in the game (especially handy for Training).
Finally, if you complete certain areas of the game three new fighters become available, including another old favourite in Guile, Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma. | *$46.05 |

 | Mega Man X5 Brand: Sony Part Number: Unknown Mega Man's exploits have been taking place on a variety of different platforms for more than a decade, but recent attempts to bring old Mega Man into 3-D have largely been missteps. That's why we were chomping at the bit to play IMega Man X5/I, because it marks a long-overdue return to MM's 2-D roots. p Unfortunately, the game plays more like a rushed overcorrection than a nostalgic, side-scrolling romp. For example, you can now choose between three playable characters: Zero, X, and Fourth. It's a good idea, but the problem is that the characters are so different that this option actually destroys the fluidity of the gaming experience. In the original IMega Man X/I titles, you couldn't progress until you found a weapon that could be used to destroy a particular boss. In IX5/I, bosses can be put out of their misery with the Z-Saber and the X-Buster. p But the game's biggest problem is its difficulty. The first law of game design is that a game should provide gradual, continual challenge. IX5/I just keeps getting easier and easier due to the endless number of checkpoints and unlimited continues. The result is IMega Man/I with training wheels. p By IMega Man/I standards, this game is truly a disappointment. On the bright side, if you are new to the gaming scene and are looking for a simple game that will help you improve your skills, this game might be your cup of tea. For most gamers, though, IX5/I is way too easy! I--Todd Mowatt/I p BPros/B: ul liMega Man returns to his 2-D platform roots /ul BCons/B: ul liThis game is way too easy, with too many checkpoints and unlimited continues liText-driven cut scenes and massive slowdown problems bog this game down /ul | *$40.00 |
 | ATV Quad Power Racing (PS1) Brand: Acclaim Entertainment Inc. Part Number: 21200 The main thing this game has going for it is speed--pure speed. And that's really the most important thing a racing game can have. Unlike so many racing games that throw a hundred options at players and then offer lame, slow-motion action, IATV/I more or less says hurry up.p The fact that the vehicles of choice are ATVs is almost unimportant, except that, like a cat, they can catch huge air and always seem to land on all fours. And though these machines go fast, there's really little reason to slow down. In fact, players won't even have to brake on the first three tracks, as power leans and a slight easing of the accelerator can satisfy most turning demands.p Of course, all this speed does have its costs, especially as far as graphics go. It's not that the tracks are ugly by any means; they hold together with little polygon breakage. It's just that they're entirely generic. You've got your desert track, your snow track, your forest track, and subtle variations of the aforementioned three. Also, there's very little a player can do besides race--in other words, no tricks. Obviously, this can get pretty boring after a while, but for those who just want to race, IATV/I makes a decent showing. I--Robb Guido/Ip BPros:/B ul liReally fast action liSurface-specific ATVs for sand, snow, and dirt liAbove-average music fits the game's action /ul BCons:/B ul liMonotonous graphics liNo tricks /ul | *$8.90 |
